Painting Watercolor at the Best Coffee Shop in Old City Knoxville

In the morning I'm always on the hunt for a great cup of coffee, a welcoming place to create, and a cozy community vibe and today I've found my way to Old City Java in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Knoxville Artist Paints Local Coffee Shop

In the center of East Tennessee is downtown Knoxville and there are so many local coffee shops to choose from. I was down the street at the Emporium dropping off some of my artwork for an upcoming gallery showcase and enjoying the Knoxville art scene when I decided to take a walk down Jackson Ave and find my way into Old City Java, a small space that was cozy, welcoming, and had a stunning backdrop of Pothos hanging in front of the window.

Watercolor Cafe Scene Painting

Urban sketching Old City has been something long on my to-do list and I had no idea my first creation would be while filming an artist vlog inside a coffee shop.

I began by finding a scene that called to me and I couldn't resist the little bulbs lining the window the vibrant city scene of Old City peaking through the window, and to my surprise a man who sat in the scene perfectly completing it for a contemporary sketch commentary on our world today.

I couldn't help but to capture in my watercolor painting a man staring at his phone with a beautiful scene surrounding him and while I cannot speak for this person and am not criticizing a quick moment I captured, I do hope this piece serves as a reminder to enjoy your surroundings and unlock from devices which is a reminder I too need to remember.
