Through the Woods was inspired by Sequoyah Hills Park in Knoxville, Tennessee, where a small footpath leads through a mix of young and old-growth trees and grasses along the Tennessee River in an area that has been inhabited and utilized as a meeting place for humans for hundreds of years, with indigenous people once living on this land. As a figure walks through the woods, they imagine and respect the people of the past and the hardships they faced, as well as the love they must have had for their land. An original alla prima oil painting that highlights the beauty of the current and the past.
